Premier League: Leicester City VS Manchester United Preview and Prediction

Leicester City and Manchester United close English Premier League’s Gameweek 5 with a clash at King Power Stadium. The two sides come into this event in a different moods. While United flies high due to two wins in a row, one against Liverpool, the Foxes are in problems and feel frustrated because of a terrible start to the championship. A win is desired on both sides, which guarantees good football.

Preview

Leicester City

The Foxes have four EPL games, and only one point won in them. After a draw in the opening round at home against Brentford, they posted three losses in a row. Leicester was up 2-0 against the Bees, and also against Southampton at home two weeks later, but due to poor focus ad fitness, they managed to waste that edge.

Two other defeats were against Arsenal and Chelsea in London, 4-2 and 2-1 respectively. As you can see, the main problem for Brendan Rodgers is his defense. The thing here is that Wesley Fofana didn’t play because he wanted to move to Chelsea, while Pereira tore his Achilles, and practically the back line was constantly without several starters.

In all four games Leicester played, we saw three or more goals, and also, goals on both ends of the field. But as we already said, Leicester’s defense was much worse than the attack, conceding twice or more each time. Another thing that bothers Rodgers before this game is James Maddison’s status, because No.10 has certain injury troubles and is questionable.

Manchester United

A win over the Reds and, after that, a minimal triumph in Southampton was refreshing for Manchester United and its fans. These two victories recovered the morale of the unit as well as the fans, and there wasn’t such a negative atmosphere surrounding the locker room.

Erik Ten Hag is slowly adjusting the team to his philosophy, and some radical moves like leaving Maguire and Ronaldo on the bench against Liverpool brought results. Though, these are only two events, and in order to say that the Red Devils managed to get out of the crisis, they will have to put together a few more matches without a defeat.

Ten Hag might have pacey Brazilian winger Anthony in this even, which would be a big plus for the Red Devils, who splashed the cash to buy him from Ajax. The Dutch colony in Manchester grows, and we’ll see what comes out of this. Ten Hag is under pressure, primarily due to his enormous shopping spree this summer.

Head to Head Games

It is very interesting that Leicester didn’t lose to Manchester United in the last five events. The most recent defeat was 0-2 in the last round of the 2020 season, once the Red Devils secured the UCL at Kings Power, beating the Foxes in a direct matchup.

After that, we saw the Foxes winning three times, and two draws besides that.

Prediction

Leicester’s defense is in problem, and we don’t want to mention that no more. The situation with Maddison further complicates Rodgers’ position before the derby, yet we still believe that the Foxes have the power to score at least once during 90 minutes. On the other side, United will surely hit the back of Danny Ward’s net. Both teams scoring is our pick, and for the moment, the odds on that aren’t too high, but the risk is pretty low, meaning that there is a value here.
